Wendy Zukerman
Executive Producer, Science Vs
Wendy is an award-winning science journalist and podcaster. With her degree in Biomedical Science and Law, she’s reported on everything from gun control to octopus intelligence. Wendy started her career at New Scientist Magazine and went to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where she created the podcast Science Vs.
In 2015, Wendy began producing Science Vs for Gimlet Media – where the show debuted at #1 in the US, Canada and Australia. Science Vs is now one of the top science podcasts in the world, featured in the The New York Times, LA Times, The Atlantic, and BBC. It won the 2020 AAAS Kavli Gold Prize for their Coronavirus reporting.
Dr. Kevin McLean
Multi Media Managing Producer, Science Magazine
Kevin is the Multimedia Managing Producer at Science Magazine where he oversees the creation of their weekly podcast as well as videos depicting the latest findings in science. Before he started his career in science media production, he received his doctorate in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation from Yale University and then spent a year split between Malaysian Borneo and the Ecudorian Amazon on a Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship. He was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Davis between 2017-2019. He got his start in journalism and radio in the Audio Academy at KALW in San Francisco and then went on to produce regional and national stories. Kevin was a 2019 AIR New Voices Scholar and Jackson Wild Media Lab Fellow.
Jon Brooks
Former Editor at KQED Science
Jon Brooks is a former Digital Editor for KQED Science. He is also the former editor of KQED’s daily news blog, News Fix. In 2014, he won a California Journalism Award for his coverage of ride services like Uber and Lyft and the taxi industry. A veteran blogger, he previously worked for Yahoo! in various news writing and editing roles. Jon is also a playwright whose work has been produced in San Francisco, New York, Italy, and around the U.S. He has written about film for his own blog and studied film at Boston University.
